About the walks

Some, if not all of these walks will be well known and well loved by locals, but if you are not familiar with them or you are new to the area, then have a read through. I have included snippets of local history and some of my photography which I hope will bring the walks to life.

There are a mixture of routes and distances that will appeal to all ages and abilities.

The longer ones won’t trouble any seasoned hikers but will give you a smug sense of satisfaction, if like me, you are a walking newbie.

The shorter walks have been road tested on my two young children who manage these without too much fuss but generally speaking the routes are not buggy friendly /accessible unless otherwise specified.

There is a PDF download for each walk that you can print off or download and use en-route. I have done my best to make the directions as clear and concise as possible but would welcome any constructive feedback!

Bear in mind that in winter or over wet weather, the mud will make some of these harder to navigate than normal.

If you do want to invest in a map then OS147 explorer will cover the walks West and South of Tonbridge and OS136 explorer takes care of the walks to the East of town. These include a digital copy that you can download to your phone using the OS app.

Some of these routes overlap in places but by and large they are different itineraries giving you a unique walk every time.

All of these walks make use of public footpaths, bridleways and roads. These are an invaluable asset but be aware that some of them cross through private property. Please stick to the footpath, always take your litter home and be respectful of livestock. In short - always follow the countryside code.

I will be updating the site to include more walks in and around Tonbridge, so keep visiting the site and please follow our Instagram account @walktonbridge or Facebook page for more pictures and updates.

Please tag any pictures from your walks using #walktonbridge as we would love to share your photos on our Instagram page @walktonbridge

One last thing. For me, walking has been a great way to unwind and enjoy some head space in the great outdoors. If you feel that you and your mental health would benefit from speaking to someone in an outdoor setting then you may wish to make contact with a professional such as the burnout counsellor.

Thanks for reading and enjoy the walks…
