“Trying to convince people to buy a microwave was a challenge as they were so suspicous...!’’
Anne Clement
Tonbridge High Street - 1989
Crowds queue, hoping for a bargain in the Rumbelows closing down sale. Next door Dixons continued to flourish for some years along with its neighbours Clintons Cards, Rumbelows and Thomas Cook. Listen to Anne Clement and her daughter Theresa recall some memories from Anne’s time working at the store - including ZX spectrums, microwave fearing customers and one irate customer whose Christmas was ruined when he didn’t read the instructions!
