‘‘If we didn’t get there by five past nine, we would get into trouble - making us stay late and write one hundred lines’’
Margaret Maddison
Quarry Hill, Tonbridge - 1989
The uniforms and shop fronts have changed since the late 80’s, but it’s still a familiar scene forty years later as school children roll out of the station and onto Quarry Hill dispersing to the various senior schools at this end of the town. Listen to long term Margaret Maddison recall her journey to the girls central school (now Hillview) in the late 1930’s and early 1940’s or how Scott Wisharts career in photography began on the bus to school using a Russian Range Finder camera that was swapped for a fish and chip supper!
