Walk Tonbridge Festival

10-25 September 2022

A celebration of walking, Tonbridge, community and countryside.

The second Walk Tonbridge Festival saw another packed festival programme of unique walks and community events which raised in nearly £19,000 for local charities.

Guided Walks

Once more we curated a selection of guided walks in and around Tonbridge over festival period.

New walks for 2022 included a ‘Crime and Punishment Walk’, a Pillbox hike, lost pubs of Tonbridge, an art walk with ‘Tonbridge Daily’ and our very own Sunrise Social.

Returning for the second year running were Nordic walking taster sessions, a storytelling walk, In Austen Family Footsteps and more!

All walks were led by local experts that volunteered their services so we could raise money for our charity partner Sustain.

The Fringe

Walk Tonbridge has always been more than just walking, its about history, countryside and community.

The Fringe celebrated these values with a series of special events that showcased our towns creativity and community spirit.

‘Tonbridge Through The Seasons’ showcased the work of some incredible amateur and professional photographers. We also had an evening of of live music and spoken word celebrating our local countryside and community spirit, plus a children’s story time with the Litter Kickers at Tonbridge Library!

The Marathon

Supported by CooperBurnett Solicitors and in collaboration with our local pubs, the second Walk Tonbridge marathon saw over 80 brave walkers take on a challenging 26.2 mile sponsored walk around Tonbridge and its surrounding countryside.

The walkers could enter as individuals or teams, bringing families. friends and colleagues together. The walkers began the their hike at Tonbridge Baptist Church and finished at The Escape Art Centre, Tonbridge. They were treated to refreshments on the way at our very own pop up tea room!

Our Charity Partner

2022 was another very tough year for many people, as the cost of living soared. For many people, food and fuel poverty is a harsh reality, even here in Tonbridge, supposedly one of Kent’s wealthiest towns.

Sustain food and fuel Bank, run by Tonbridge Baptist Church and provides emergency assistance for Tonbridge residents facing short term need.

We are delighted to have raised thousands of pounds worth of donations for this vital charity, through the marathon and the other festival walks.

Our Supporters

The Walk Tonbridge Festival is a not for profit community event which was been made possible with the generosity and support of CooperBurnett solicitors, Absolute Creative Print, Hilden Park Chartered Accountants, The Escape Art Centre, and Tonbridge School.

All of these local businesses donated their time and resources so that we can provide Tonbridge with this celebration of walking community and countryside.
